Short, honest answers

Anything we haven’t locked in yet is marked TBA.

How do I register?

Register as a team of 3 to 5, or solo and we’ll match you. It takes about two minutes, and it’s free for students. A week before, confirm your spot with the link we email you. The registration link is coming soon: follow @ou.sase.

What’s the prompt?

One theme, SASEHack for Good: build something that helps your community. The exact prompt is revealed at the opening ceremony at 9:00. Keep it small. A working project beats a big unfinished one.

Are there prizes?

Yes, for the top teams. Details are coming soon.

Who can join?

OU students of every major and every skill level, and especially anyone who has never done a hackathon. You don’t need to be a SASE member.

How much does it cost?

Nothing. It’s free for students.

Is it overnight?

No. Check-in starts at 8:00 AM and we wrap up by 7:15 PM, all on Saturday, October 24.

Do I need a team?

Teams are 3 to 5 people. Sign up solo and we’ll match you with a team.

Do I need coding experience?

No. The day is built for beginners, and mentors check in with every table three times. Teams need designers, researchers and presenters too.

What should I bring?

A laptop and charger, your student ID, a water bottle, and anything that makes a long day comfy.

Is there food?

Yes: lunch and snacks are brought to the room. Tell us about dietary restrictions when you register.

How are projects judged?

Expo style: you stay at your table and judges visit each team for about six minutes. Scores are out of 100: technical execution 30, problem fit and impact 25, originality 20, presentation 15, and scope achieved 10.

What if I can’t make it after registering?

Just don’t confirm when the email comes a week before, and your spot goes to someone on the waitlist.

Where is it? Is the venue accessible?

On OU’s Norman campus. The building is being confirmed. If you need any accommodations, tell us early. Email [email protected] or DM @ou.sase.
